RAZÕES PESSOAIS is a theater company founded in 2004 in Lisbon, with the artistic direction of Pedro Gil e Raquel Castro and Ana Gusmão as the production coordinator. Miguel Castro Caldas is an associate creator during the years 2022-2026.

As someone jumping from character to character, the name of this company keeps changing. Movimento V (V Mouvement), Barba Azul (BlueBeard) or AnaPereira.PedroGil have been its names in the past.During the years of its cultural activity this company has received several public and private grants and several of its projects have been supported by co-productions or partnerships with some of the major Portuguese cultural entities. The majority of these projects were presented in several cities spread all over Portugal and showcased in many national festivals and happenings.

From 2004 to 2013 the company is directed by Ana Pereira and Pedro Gil and produces theater projects from authors such as Pedro Gil, Cláudia Varejão, Tiago Rodrigues, Rui Horta, Gonçalo Amorim and Jorge Silva Melo/Artistas Unidos.

In 2010 the actress and director Raquel Castro joined the company. Since then, it has produced several projects co-created by Pedro Gil and Raquel Castro, alone or in partnerships with other artists, such as Miguel Castro Caldas, Joana Bértholo and Mariana Tengner Barros.

Since its foundation the company has developed a strong partnership with Espaço do Tempo at Montemor-o-Novo where it has conceived and continues to create the majority of its artistic residencies.

RAZÕES PESSOAIS is a company based in the space of the dance company Olga Roriz and receives the financial support of the Portuguese Republic through the grants attributed by the DGARTS institute.

Pedro Gil

Pedro Gil has worked in theater since 1999. He develops his activities mainly as an actor, writer and director but also does investigative and production work.

As a director he is responsible for creations such as: Homem-Legenda | 2005, Mona Lisa Show | 2008,  Enquanto Vivermos | 2012, Terreno Selvagem | 2016 e 2022 (text Miguel Castro Caldas, codirection Miguel Castro Caldas and Raquel Castro), Don Juan Esfaqueado na Avenida da Liberdade | 2018, O Inesquecível Professor | 2021 and Depois das Zebras I 2023. In 2019 he started the investigative theater project Lições de Teatro (Lessons on Theatre).

Raquel Castro

Born in Lisbon.

Has a degree in Theater – Actor Training from Escola Superior de Theater and Cinema (2005-2008) and a degree in Nursing (2004).

As an actress she has worked with Pedro Gil, Gonçalo Amorim, Madalena Victorino, Giacomo Scalisi, Ricardo Gageiro, Mickael Oliveira, Nuno M Cardoso, Mónica Calle, Rui Pina Coelho, Tónan Quito and Tiago Rodrigues. She starred in the movie CIDADE RABAT, by Susana Nobre.

As a director he is responsible for creations such as: Turma de 95 | 2019, A MORTE DE RAQUEL | 2020, Terreno Selvagem | 2016 and 2022 (codirection Miguel Castro Caldas and Pedro Gil) and AS CASTRO | 2023.
In 2020 he received the Portuguese Society of Authors Award for Best Represented Portuguese Text with the show Turma de 95.

Production Direction

Ana Gusmão

Born in Lisbon. She has a degree in Communication Sciences (2007) and a postgraduate degree in Cinema and Television (2008). In film production, she has worked with directors such as Margarida Gil, Solveig Nordlund, João Botelho and Johan Schelfhout, as an annotator, assistant director and later as secretary and production coordinator. In theater production, she worked with directors such as António Pires, Luís Bragança Gil or Luísa Costa Gomes, producing shows such as Auto da Barca do Inferno (2008/2009), Deus,Pátria e Revolução (2009), Say It With Flowers (2009) Romancero Gitano (2009), O Príncipe de Homburgo (2010), A Vida de Artista (2010), A Paixão de São Julião Hospitaleiro (2011). He was part of the production team that opened Teatro do Bairro in 2011. Since March 2024, she has been working as production manager for the company Razões Pessoais.

Miguel Castro Caldas

He is a playwright, builds and dismantles theater shows and occasionally he  translates. He is also a teacher of Playwriting in the Theater(a  degree at the School of Arts and Design), and Short Fiction. He worked in theater with Bruno Bravo, Jorge Silva Melo, Gonçalo Waddington, Miguel Loureiro, António Simão, Tiago Rodrigues, Teresa Sobral, Raquel Castro, Pedro Gil, Lígia Soares, Gonçalo Amorim, Rute Rocha, Jaspers Halle, Franzisca Aarflot, among others. Some of his texts are published in the collection Livrinhos de Teatro dos Artistas Unidos, the publishers Ambar, Douda Correria, Mariposa Azual, Culturgest, Primeiros Sintomas, and in the magazines Artistas Unidos, Fatal and Blimunda.

Mariana Venes

As someone passionate about the theater, she recently completed a master’s degree in Theatre – specializing in performing arts, at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. As a complement to her management training, she attended the GIOCA – Innovation and Organization of Culture and The Arts master’s course at the Università di Bologna. She worked at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, where she took part in the Music 2025 Project (Sept 2016-May 2017). She worked as an assistant technician for the Gulbenkian Innovation in Health Program (Sept 2016 – Dec 2017) and the Gulbenkian Knowledge Program (Jan 2018 – Jul 2020). She was coordinator of projects for inclusion through art at Associação Tempos Brilhantes (Jul 2020 – Aug 2021).
